Swara Yoga is the ancient Tantric science of nostril dominance and breath flow (Wikipedia).

Ancient yogis observed that human breathing is rarely equal in both nostrils; instead, air alternates predominantly between the right and left nostril every 90 to 120 minutes. Modern Chronobiology calls this natural phenomenon the Nasal Cycle or Ultradian Rhythm.

What is Swara Yoga and how does the nasal cycle affect the brain?

Swara Yoga is the ancient science of nostril dominance. Modern neurophysiology confirms that humans undergo a 90-to-120 minute nasal cycle (Ultradian Rhythm). Right nostril dominance (Pingala Nadi) activates sympathetic arousal and left-hemisphere logic, while left nostril dominance (Ida Nadi) activates parasympathetic calming and right-hemisphere creativity.

EEG studies verify that alternate airflow correlates with contralateral cerebral hemisphere activation (PubMed).
